My Blackboard Modules and SettingsModules :: My Courses :: Settings
Within the My Blackboard page there are two additional modules (My Courses and Instructor Course Copy) that may assist you in the administrative duties of your Blackboard courses.
The My Courses Module lists your courses by quarter. You may not see any courses in this module at first. Within this module you can choose to view the Course ID, Announcements, Tasks, and Calendar for each course.
My Blackboard Portal Settings Tools [top]From the My Courses Module:
- Click the pencil icon on the right corner of the My Courses Module.
- Click on Display Course, Display Course ID, Display Announcements, Display Tasks, or Display Calendar Events boxes.
- Add additional URL links to this module under the Modify List of Courses on Other Systems option.
Note: this is just to add a web link, which will display only to you under Courses on other systems category.- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.

Q: What should I see in the My Courses Module?
A: As an instructor you should see the "Courses you are teaching:" with links listing your Cal Poly courses. If the course is "unavailable" to your students, the course link will have the (Unavailable) text next to the course name. If you would like to make your course available, go to Course Settings.Student
Q: What should I see in the My Courses Module?
A: As a student you should see "Courses in which you are participating:" with links listing the courses you are enrolled in at Cal Poly. If the course is "unavailable," you will not be able to see it until your instructor makes the course available.Within the My Blackboard page there are two setting tools; Modify Content and Modify Layout.
Modify Content
The Content setting will allow you to add modules via a check box list.
From the My Blackboard page:
- Click on the Modify Content button on the upper right.
- Choose from the many modules available. You may choose more than one.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
Note: If you click on the Submit button and the Blackboard login page appears, then click on the My Blackboard tab and ignore the login page.

Q: Why would I want to add Modules?
A: There are many modules to choose from like; weather, news, search, calculator, bookmarks and dictionaries.Modify Layout
The Layout settings tool will allow you to change the position of the modules on the My Blackboard page and choose a color theme.

From the My Blackboard page:
- Click on the Modify Layout button.
- Choose the Right or Left Panel.
- Click on the Module name.
- Use the arrow buttons to move the modules around.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
From the My Blackboard page:
- Click on the Layout button.
- Choose the Customize Theme.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
